Why is it harder to read all caps?

Avoid using all caps. Readability is reduced with all caps because all words have a uniform rectangular shape, meaning readers can’t identify words by their shape.

Are capitals or lower case easier to read?

Studies have been conducted on the readability and legibility of all caps text. Scientific testing from the 20th century onward has generally indicated that all caps text is less legible and readable than lower-case text.

Why is it so hard to read uppercase text give your answer using the terms and concepts we used in our course material?

When text is in All Caps, the height of every letter is identical making every word an even rectangular shape, forcing us to read letter-by-letter, reducing our reading speed.

Is all capitals easier to read?

All capital (uppercase) letters are slower for people to read, but only because they aren’t used to them. People are not used to reading that way, so it will slow them down, and these days it’s perceived as “shouting”. But now you know that uppercase letters are not inherently harder to read.

Why do teens use all lowercase?

They want to save time. When typing on a computer, text isn’t usually auto capitalized, meaning that typing in only lowercase is quicker than with proper capitalization.

Are emails case sensitive?

No. Email addresses are not case sensitive. Having letters in all lowercase makes the email address easier to read, but the oversight won’t stop your messages from being delivered.
