Why does my car groan when I turn the wheel?

Why does my car groan when I turn the wheel?

Groaning sounds in your car can indicate that the power steering pump is failing. Check the power steering fluid and see if it smells burnt. If the rims on your car are too big, this problem may be caused by your tires rubbing on the wheel wells. This could also happen if you have had an accident on the left side.

Why does my car make a sound when I turn right?

Suspension Joints: Especially when heard at lower speeds, a creaking, clunking, or popping sound could indicate worn out or broken suspension joints. Power Steering System: A screeching or whining noise while turning at normal speeds could mean an issue resides within the power steering system itself.

Why do cars moan?

I “parked” my car and while the vehicle was still on, I hopped out of the driver’s seat in order to get to something that was in the back seat.

Why does my engine whine when I start it?

A whining noise from the engine could be due to problems with the transmission. Low transmission fluid can also cause automatic transmission shifting to feel hard or jerky. If the whining noise is caused by a transmission problem, take your car into your mechanic for repair.

Why does my car make a loud noise when I idle?

As the exhaust system ages, sometime the heat shields start to rust at the hold-down points and become loose. If this is your problem, the engine vibrations will cause an awful noise as you’re sitting at a stop light or as your car is idling in the driveway warming up. It sounds like rocks being shaken on a cookie sheet.

Why does my car sound like an airplane when I drive?

While driving, you hear a low-pitched hum. As you accelerate, the noise gets louder—maybe it sounds like an airplane taking off—but after a certain speed the volume is consistent. When you make a turn, the noise gets louder; but if you turn the other way, it disappears. What it could mean: This is most likely a wheel bearing noise.

Why does my alternator make a whining noise when I drive?

If the belt is rubbing on the pulley due to misalignment or the bearings are worn out your alternator could indeed make a whining noise. Usually, these sounds would be described more as a squeak with the engine belt or a hum with bad bearings, so get your car started, then pop your hood and listen carefully to what the noise sounds like.

Why is my car making noise when I steer?

You may also be experiencing some issues with your steering system, such as when there is a leak or when the power steering pump is faulty. Or, another source of leakage could be from the exhaust system. Again, it’s important to be as clear as possible on what sort of noise you’re hearing.
