What is the purpose of Udin?

What is the purpose of UDIN? UDIN is a unique process adopted by the ICAI to curb misrepresentation by any third person, posing as CA, who generally forge signatures on the documents to mislead various authorities.

For which certificates Udin is mandatory?

Since 1st February 2019 all certificates issued by Chartered Accountants had been made mandatory. Now in 2nd phase, w.e.f 1st April, 2019, UDIN is being made mandatory for GST & Tax Audit Reports.

How is Udin used in tax audit?

Although the ICAI has made it clear no such certificates would be required to be uploaded on the portal for UDIN generation. Step 3: Enter details like six-digit Membership No., Date of Enrollment, DOB and click on the “Send OTP” button. An OTP will be sent on the registered mobile and email with ICAI.

Is Udin mandatory for audited balance sheet?

As per FAQ on UDIN issued by ICAI dated Nov,2019 Que. No. 54 no udin is required for financial statements which are not subject to any statutory audit.

How does audit report generate Udin number?

Step 1: Go to the following link: https://udin.icai.org/?mode=myicai Log in using the credentials received on the e-mail address registered with ICAI. Note: The password for the UDIN portal can be changed at any time. It is recommended to do so after the first login. Step 2: Click on ‘Generate UDIN’.

How to check the validity of an attested document using Udin?

With the UDIN, the respective authorities such as banks, RBI, Income Tax Department, etc. can check the validity of the documents issued by the Chartered Accountant. Since the UDIN can be generated by the Chartered Accountants only via the UDIN portal, the validity of the attested document can be checked by using its UDIN.

What are the keywords in Udins?

The ‘keyword’ as mentioned above implies any keyword and its corresponding value / amount as contained in the document for which the UDIN is generated. For example, if the Chartered Accountant is certifying the turnover of an entity, one of the keywords could be ‘Turnover’ along with the corresponding turnover amount as its value.
