What is the difference between Arnor and Gondor?

Gondor certainly had more contact with the Northmen, many of whom settled in Gondor. But then, Arnor became home to the Hobbits, and whereas Gondor’s own civil war was quickly resolved the divisions between Arthedain, Cardolan, and Rhudaur lasted for centuries.

Why was Gondor ruled by stewards?

Because the last King before him, Eärnur, had been taken by the Enemy at Minas Morgul, and in his lack of a lving son his line was discontinued. The Stewards were all that ruled after him, because of the significance of maintaining the Line of Kings (which descended from Elendil) through sons.

What happened to Arnor during the war of the Ring?

When did stewards take over Gondor?

After the disappearance of King Eärnur, who left no heir to the throne of Gondor, the Steward Mardil Voronwë became the first of the Ruling Stewards in TA 2050. Mardil was the first of the Stewards to administer Gondor, and his descendants did so for 25 generations.

What happened to Angmar?

Angmar’s armies were repelled from Fornost and the North Downs, and forced to withdraw to Angmar. His army defeated the forces of Angmar in the Battle of Fornost, and the Witch-king fled to Mordor, leaving the kingdom of Angmar to fall in TA 1975.
