What happens if I accidentally drove in manual?

There’s no reason it should cause damage. You can shift back and forth from auto to manual any time you want. There’s no need to downshift in manual mode. I use manual mode all the time (almost literally) and it seems to downshift, when slowing, at the same points as it does in automatic.

Is it OK to go from Drive to manual while driving?
