Does ophthalmology require math?

The math requirements will vary, but you most likely need to take, at the minimum, coursework in calculus. Some programs may also require geometry and statistics.

To get into optometry school you will need an undergraduate degree with specific coursework that is heavy in math in science. At the Illinois College of Optometry, for example, you would need calculus, statistics, biology, microbiology, chemistry, organic chemistry and physics.
