Why is the Musandam part of Oman?

Khasab, Bukka and Dibba Al-Baya which form the modern Musandam exclave of Oman were strategic in the sense that the lay close to the strategic ‘Strait Of Hormuz’. This allowed Oman to control most trade via the strait , gave Oman some maritime rights and also gave it access to the abundant oil fields.
