Why is the Jersey Turnpike divided?
The Turnpike north of exit 8A is where it splits to a divided highway. A car is allowed to travel on whichever side it wants, while trucks and buses, must use their designated lanes. South of 8A it is a merged highway with the normal lane layout. I personally like that it splits and it does help traffic move better.
