The display on screen was in Sanskrit, because by that time (in movie period) sanskrit would be a hard language for anyone to know and then to decode the drone programming.

Why did Christopher Nolan make Interstellar?

Christopher Nolan told The Hollywood Reporter: “The project was originally developed by Lynda Obst. She’s great friends with Kip Thorne, an astrophysicist at CalTech, and their dream was to make a science-fiction film where the more outlandish concepts were derived from real-world science.

Nolan has certain infatuation for India. It made sense to use either a Chinese or Indian drone in the situation in the movie. He preferred India coz of certain unpleasant experience with China and also people in general prefer India to China. The best thing that happened by the movie was to announce that India has arrived.

Why did Christopher Nolan choose to have an Indian actor?

Nothing deep here, my take is that the primary goal is to attract Indian audiences to watch Interstellar (that’s why that scene makes it to the official trailer) and secondary goal is a Tribute to Mangalyaan as well. For the same reason, Nolan was keen to have an Indian actor play one of the Interstellar crew.

Which Indian actor was considered for interstellar?

For the same reason, Nolan was keen to have an Indian actor play one of the Interstellar crew. Nolan considered Irfan Khan and Siddharth (of Rang De Basanti) for the movie.
