Why is Elon Musk against the union?

The National Labor Relations Board on Thursday upheld a 2019 ruling that Tesla had illegally fired a worker involved in union organizing and that the company’s chief executive, Elon Musk, had illegally threatened workers with the loss of stock options if they unionized.

Musk has a contentious past with unions. Tesla’s workforce isn’t unionized and in 2017, the UAW filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board on behalf of hundreds of Tesla factory workers who were fired from the assembly plant, alleging that the workers were unfairly targeted for being pro-union.
