Then, on August 24, Feng Xiaoyi’s Douyin account was permanently banned for “consistently putting on the image of being pitiful, publicising harmful content that encourages minors to donate money [to him], and having a negative effect on society”.

Its main competitors are Kuaishou, Xigua, WeeSee (Weishi), and Huoshan. With 600 million, the daily active user (DAU) number of Douyin is even more impressive.

Douyin is the name of the TikTok app in China, where it has gone totally viral. In the West we know the app as TikTok Musical.ly but on the Asian market it’s called Douyin.
