Why is a stamp on top right corner?

The correct place to paste postage stamps should be on the top right hand corner of the addressed envelope. Postage must be placed in the upper right corner of an envelope. That is where the cancellation machine cancels any stamps. If they aren’t in the proper place stamps won’t get canceled.
