Why does one volleyball player dressed differently?

The libero has specific playing instructions. They can only play in the back of the court and can’t jump and spike a ball in the front row or block an attack at the net. The libero has to wear a different colour so that referees can easily spot them to enforce their specific playing instructions.

Why does 1 player have a different color jersey?

Olympic volleyball’s governing body, the International Volleyball Federation, created the position in 1996 to aid defensive tactics. In order for referees to quickly identify the libero and execute the regulations of that particular playing position, the liberos are required to wear a distinctive color jersey.
