Why does my microwave keep tripping my electric?

When an appliance such as a microwave oven repeatedly trips the circuit breaker, it’s overloading the electrical circuit, which is rated to handle a finite number of amps. Too many items are plugged into the same circuit that the microwave oven is on, causing an overload.

Can a faulty microwave trip a breaker?

Generally, two common microwave problems cause tripped breakers. These are either a damaged fuse or faulty switches. The first and easy way of troubleshooting a microwave is to check its fuse. If it’s burnt, has broken glass, or broken wire, then it needs to be replaced.

Where is the microwave fuse?

Fuses are located in many places inside the microwave, including the top, side, and behind the vent grille. Using the wiring diagram can help you locate the appropriate fuse. Once you have located the fuse, remove any necessary wires and fasteners to free it from the microwave.

What size breaker should a microwave be on?

Pressing Off/Clear button and holding it for about 3 seconds will also resolve the Control Locked feature of the microwave.
