he could have stopped when Catelyn said no to him for like the millionth time!) So like Lysa, Catelyn was now also in the used and abused category. In his eyes “she betrayed him by marrying someone else” so he used her send those messaged through Lysa which guaranteed she would die.

Did Littlefinger really love Catelyn?

For most of his life, Littlefinger was in love with Catelyn Stark. Most of his efforts can be traced to acquiring power, and using that power to contrive circumstances where in some twisted version of events, he could be with her. As he tells Lysa when he kills her, Catelyn was the only woman he ever loved.

This is where Littlefinger tipped the other way. If he had supported Ned he would have done himself out of a very nice job with little chance of progression. Baelish betrays Stark because Eddard was going to go against his wishes to have Joffery be the successor.

Why did Littlefinger turn the city guard against Ned Stark?

Should Joffery be proven to be an illegitimate child and not heir to the throne, Littlefinger has a high chance that he’d lose his position and could not allow Eddard, the man of honour, take that away from him. This resulted in turning the City Guard against Ned, instead of in his favour.

Why did Daenerys kill Jon Arryn?

He killed Jon Arryn with the help of Lysa so that he hoped King Robert would reach out for Ned to serve as Hand of the King. That way Ned is out of Winterfell and also at Kings Landing where it is easier for him to get rid of Ned with his schemes. He cleverly bought Ned’s confidence and betrayed him when the time is right.
