Why does liquid form a sphere in space?

Why do the liquid drops adopt spherical shape?
Surface tension is responsible for the shape of liquid droplets. The inward forces on the surface molecules of a liquid drop tend to cause the surface to volume ratio as small as possible. Since surface to volume ratio is minimum for the spherical shape a liquid drop is spherical.

As air pressure drops, the temperature needed to boil water becomes lower. In space, because there is no air pressure, water boils away at an extremely low temperature.

For water, this state happens when a water molecule is surrounded on all sides by other water molecules, which creates a sphere or ball (perfectly round if it was in outer space). On Earth, the effect of gravity flattens this ideal sphere into the drop shape we see.
