A common cold, exhaustion, stress, hunger, sleep deprivation, even allergies can make you depressed, which leads to negative thoughts. In many cases, depression can be caused by negative thinking, itself.

Let Positive Emotions Outnumber Negative Ones When we feel more positive emotions than negative ones, difficult situations are easier to handle. Positive emotions build our resilience (the emotional resources needed for coping). They broaden our awareness, letting us see more options for problem solving.
How do you deal with negative situations in life?
The best way to deal with negative situations is to stay positive! It’s not as easy as it sounds, but it can be done. Don’t allow yourself to become jaded by something bad that’s happened. Stay positive, don’t jump to conclusions, and keep an open mind.
How do you let go of negative feelings?

Why do people hold on to negative emotions?
Almost all negative emotions depend on blaming someone or something else for negative situations that happen in their life. The problem here then, is that people hold on to those negative emotions, even if they cannot change the outcome and are angry about it. Take responsibility for yourself, your reactions and your situation.
How do you get rid of negative thoughts about yourself?
Challenge negative thoughts and release them. If you find that negative thoughts are still popping up, acknowledge them, and then reject them. You can think something like, “Yes, this is a big problem. But I reject this negativity and choose to focus on the positives.”
