Why do the agents want to destroy Zion?

Agent Smith is the leader of the agents, who are sentient programs which guard the matrix. He is in command and wants to destroy Zion, the last free city, so that he can leave the matrix, which he sees as a zoo and prison, because then the guards will be needed no more.

What is Zion mainframe?

A Mainframe refers to a computer system, both of which were used by the Machines and the Zion resistance. Each hovercraft captain is given access code to the Zion mainframe computer, making them valuable targets for the machines and their agents, enabling them to enter Zion, the home of the human resistance.

What does Agent Smith want?

Whereas Neo’s goal is to save Zion and the humans inside the Matrix, Agent Smith’s goal was to destroy Zion and all humans. Whereas Neo was known as the One, Agent Smith (by copying himself onto others) became the Many. Neo wants to bring order while Smith wants only chaos.

Why did Agent Smith want out of the Matrix?

Portrayal. French actor Jean Reno was originally offered the role of Agent Smith in The Matrix, but he declined as he was at one point of his career in which he did not want to leave his native France, unwilling to move to Australia for a four-and-a-half months shooting. Hugo Weaving was ultimately cast as Smith.

Does Neo save Zion?

Salvation. Unlike his predecessors, Neo defies the Architect’s ultimatum and chooses to save Trinity from certain death. After Neo successfully destroys Smith and his clones within the Matrix, the Sentinels retreat, the Matrix is reloaded, and Zion is saved, the cycle broken.

Who built Zion?

Zion, in the Old Testament, the easternmost of the two hills of ancient Jerusalem. It was the site of the Jebusite city captured by David, king of Israel and Judah, in the 10th century bc (2 Samuel 5:6–9) and established by him as his royal capital.

What happened to Zion in the Matrix?

But the implications are pretty clear: Zion was destroyed and Morpheus was killed because he led as though their struggles were over. As if Neo parleying with the machines and defeating Smith solved all their problems. Morpheus died in that game, and some fans want to dredge that up here.

Why is it called Zion in the Matrix?

The word Zion suggests safety, since the city became a religious haven for the Israelites after years of wandering and enduring torture. In the Matrix trilogy, Zion is still a promised land as well as a safe haven, but the parallels end there.
