Why do some youtube videos have sound on one side?

When working with video you may run into a problem where your sound is only coming out of one side of your speakers or headphones. This is because your sound is set to stereo meaning you’ve got separate channels for left and right. It should now be in both side severe headphones.

Why is audio only coming out of my left ear?

There can be many reasons that a pair of headphones only play audio out of one ear. The most common reason for sound to only come out of one side is the wires near the audio jack have gotten bent back and forth so many times that it has caused a short in the wiring.

Go to Settings > General > Accessibility and scroll down to sound. You’ll see a scroller allowing you to prioritise sound through the left or right ear. Above that is the Mono Audio option which you should switch on too. On Android, it will really depend on the type of device you use.

Your sound may be turned off on your computer, or on the actual YouTube video.

Go to your computer controls and click on the speaker to see if there is an X which would mean you have muted your volume. Click the x to unlock your speaker sound. Your YouTube video player also has a speaker below the video, click on the x if it is showing to unlock the sound on your YouTube video.

One way to fix it without any effort would be to set your audio output to mono from studio. In case of mono audio output, the sound being played only on one side of the headphones would be played in both the sides. To do this in windows 10, go to ‘ease of access’ (just search for it) then to audio section and the enable mono.
