Why do metal fans hate nirvana?

Metalheads may find it cool to hate Nirvana, but that’s because they want to define themselves against their notion of people who like Nirvana. As someone who likes music without regard for who else likes it, I find it very difficult indeed to take the conflict seriously. Personally, I just don’t like their sound.

What took over grunge?

Grunge came in like a limo wreck and ended with a shotgun blast. In April of 1994, Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain was found dead at absolute peak of his career. The other big grunge bands slowly started to fade away as well, and post-grunge and nu-metal took over the second half of the ’90s.

Both genres are under the classification of rock music. Heavy metal is a direct genre while grunge is a subgenre of alternative rock. Both genres share the same amplified distortions in their sound. 4. Metal places a higher importance on the sound. On the other hand, grunge gives more of an emphasis on the lyrics.

It has various influences of hardcore, punk, heavy metal, and indie rock. Grunge is characterized by angst-filled lyrics and heavy distorted sounds and contrasting song dynamics. Compared to metal, grunge has a slower rhythm with lower tones and less volume.

Do you consider grunge edgy?

That’s not edgy, but very pretentious. And if they knew some things more about music, then they’d be aware that Nirvana is the most overrated band ever, and they’d be smart enough to avoid wearing it. Grunge isn’t Rock. Not Pop as well of course. But many consider it as Evolution Of The Rock Movement.

What is the difference between grunge and melodic rock?

The bands that followed the footsteps of mid 80s Melodic Rock bands, and didn’t throw them on the trash unlike Grunge musicians did. Grudge went backwards and brought back Rock music to the Stone Age with their retarded song structures. Even after two decades and some years.
