Why do I want to be a game designer?

Why would you want to work in Game Design? Maybe because it’s a career that involves the perfect mix of story telling, cutting-edge technology and creativity. It could also be because you love playing games and want to help bring to live your creative ideas.

Is 3D modeling harder than coding?

It depends which skills you already have. I’m a modeller but I do a little programming also. I would say it is objective that 3D programming is harder if you start from zero skills in either category. 3D programming is among the hardest programming task involving a lot of math.

Do game designers need to learn programming?

The second reason to learn some programming is that most modern game engines actually do require game designers to write some code using a type of simplified programming language called a Scripting Language. Now scripting isn’t like full blown game programming, it’s a lot less complex and it’s not nearly as powerful.
