These both are able to identify your phone, and the difference between the Primary and Digital really just comes down to whether you insert a physical SIM card or use the eSIM (electronic SIM) functionality built into the iPhone. The IMEI number allows wireless carriers to identity devices being used on their networks.

A Digital sim is a sim card that is built in to the iPhone, or gen erated via software to connect to an additional phone line. The Digital sim card will have its own IMEI number, that is different to the IMEI number for the physical sim card slot.
