Why am I half an inch taller in the morning?

It is said that we are just a little bit taller in the morning than we are later in the day – but why? This phenomenon may be due to gravity compressing cartilage in our spine and in other parts of our bodies, such as our knees when we stand up or sit down throughout the day.

Why are our knees shorter during the day?

I know, it sounds insane but there’s a pretty good reason for it. Because of the activities we do during the day, the cartilage in our spine, our knees as well as in other areas of our body, is slowly compressed, thus making us shorter by around half an inch (1-1,5cm).
