Who is gazetted officer certificate?

Class I or Group A (Gazetted and Executive officers who can attest the documents):

  • All Officers of Armed forces;
  • Magistrates and above in Judicial services;
  • Central and state servicemen (Doctors, Engineers, Drug Controller);
  • Scientists working in any government-funded research organization like DRDO etc.;

Is lawyer gazetted officer?

No. Lawyers are not Gazetted officers as they are not govt servants i.e. they are not recruited through any examination conducted by high Court or govt. In lower courts, Civil Judge(JD) and above are Gazetted Officers.

Is IPS a gazetted officer?

Gazetted officers include all the Indian Police Service officers which are Class I officers of the cadre and all State Police Services officers of and above the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police.

Is gazetted officer attestation required?

So Gazetted Officer is an officer in Indian government service whose signature, stamp & with an official seal is required for attesting certificate copies & photographs of a person.

Can an official attest a document without identifying the person?

An Official can not attest a document, without identifying the person. Therefore, they may keep a copy of your document. You would need to reach the Gazetted Officer, with your valid original ID proof and its copy to get your documents attested.

Do IAS officers keep their personal guns?

Is it necessary to get documents attested from a gazetted officer?

The law has since been changed. Now there is no need to get the documents attested from a gazetted officer. The law permits submission of self attested photocopie. These days self attested documents are freely accepted everywhere.
