What is the difference between masters and M Tech?

And the first difference comes in the discipline of the degrees, i.e. a Master of Science (M.Sc) degree is a degree under the domain of Science. Meanwhile, a Master of Technology (M. Tech) degree is a degree under the discipline of Engineering.

Is MTech equal to MS?

“After this AICTE notification, MS is now a recognised nomenclature for Master of Science. AICTE chairman Anil Sahasrabudhe said the MS course offered by IITs or NITs would be treated as MTech. “They are centrally funded institutions. For us, their MS signifies MSc which is equivalent to MTech,” he said.

The theoretical difference between MS and Mtech is the course duration. An MS can go beyond 2 years as well if the candidate is working on a particular research project. Mtech is usually 2 years long in duration. The course content of both degrees is more or less the same.

What is the difference between an MS and an MSc?

Master of Science is abbreviated as MS and Master’s of Technology is abbreviated as M.Tech. In India both MSc and MTech are different and there exist no MS, rather it’s Msc. However, in USA they call MS and there exist no Msc, you can go for MS in mechnical engineering or any related field.

What is an MTech course in engineering?

1. MTech is a 2-year course where you have to study 4 to 5 subjects each semester (for the first two-semester) then in the rest two-semester either you could go for an internship for one year or you could do projects under the prof.

Should I do MTech from Old IIT or MSc from NIT?

Go for M.Sc. if you want to get into teaching or research. Pvt. sector jobs, if available, pay very less. However, fee of M.Sc. is very less. Go for M.Tech if you want to get into teaching or research or pvt. sector. If you do M.Tech from Old IIT/NIT, you can expect a job that pays 30–45k pm to 80–90k pm.
