Where do you go after basic training?

After Army basic training, the next step in your Army career is to attend Advanced Individual Training. Advanced Individual Training (AIT) is where soldiers learn how to perform the tasks required in their specific Military Occupational Specialty (MOS).

How long is AIT? Advanced Individual Training(AIT) ranges from 4 to 52 weeks depending on a Soldier’s MOS. After graduating from basic training, Soldiers will go to AIT where they will complete Phase IV and Phase V before joining their unit.

Most move directly to AIT. The time with family surrounding graduation is important because AIT most often directly follows basic training as soldiers haven’t built up leave time yet. Once your leave after basic training is over, you’ll report for Advanced Individual Training (AIT) where you’ll train for the military job you chose.

Can you take leave during basic training in the Marines?

The one exception to this rule is that you’re usually allowed to take a week or so of leave if you’re attendingjob training during the Christmas week. The Marine Corps grants ten days of leave immediately following basic training graduation, prior to reporting to the School of Infantry.

Can you go to college after being discharged from the military?

Luckily, you don’t have to wait until you’re discharged from the military to start looking at additional training or using your educational benefits. If you have down time between duty stations or after your advanced training, you can use the time to complete certain education opportunities.

How does Advanced Individual Training work in the military?

If you are in one of the MOS (job specialty) that has a training school separate from the Basic Training location like medic, mechanic, cook, etc, after graduation the military will transport you to that school, you in process and begin your Advanced Individual Training, in whatever form that takes among the huge number of MOS to choose from.
