Many of the BS-MS graduates from the IISERs have done exceedingly well moving on to Ph. D. programmes in India and elsewhere. IISER graduates have joined leading Universities including Oxford, Caltech, Cambridge, Harvard, MIT, Princeton and the Max Planck Institutes.

How long is PhD in IISER?

Usually, it takes around six years from the entry year (1st year) to get a PhD degree in this program.

What are the career opportunities for IISER graduates after BS-MS?

To be fair, the career opportunities for IISER graduates are more or less attuned to research. That being said, there is nothing that stops the students from opting for a career as an engineer after completing a BS-MS from an IISER.

Is there any placement cell in IISER Mohali for MS?

IISER Mohali doesn’t have any placement cell but there is an Ecell in the college which supports young enterpreneurs of college. It is a research institute so getting job after just MS is not favoured by students, but some students go for jobs in government sector but majority of one go for phds.

Academia (Research): After doing a PhD, post your BS-MS course, you can join any CSIR labs or University or research lab as a staff scientist or principal investigator. Industry (Research & Development): Doing a PhD after your BS-MS course will open the doors of any company for you to join them as a scientist in their R&D department.
