Where did Neil go at the end of Tenet?

As Neil explains, this is the end of the story for him – he has to go back into the inverted side of the battle, so that he can open the gate and step in front of the bullet meant for The Protagonist. Neil’s loop is closed, but for The Protagonist, this is the beginning of their story together.

Who died at the end of Tenet?

Moreover, Neil’s death is integral to Nolan’s overall inspiration and intent for the film to be a self-contained palindrome. For those unaware, Nolan based Tenet on the “Sator Square,” a five-word square of palindromes that can be read both forwards and backwards and has been found as far back as the ruins of Pompeii.

While Tenet draws no explicit connection between Neil and Kat, one of the film’s most popular fan theories suggests Neil is actually a grown-up Max. Additionally, Tenet’s ending reveals how The Protagonist continues watching over Kat and Max after the film’s events.

What happens to Neil in the end?

Unfortunately, for the mission to succeed, the Protagonist realises that Neil is killed when he goes backwards to help them. Once they’ve escaped with the algorithm, he tries to persuade Neil to not go back, but as he puts it: “What’s happened, happened.”

Why would the world end Tenet?

What is the Algorithm and how would it end the world? The Algorithm is a piece of technology from the future that can reverse the entropy of the entire planet. If activated, it would cause everything to invert, wiping out the past, time, and everyone who ever existed or will exist.

Is Neil in Tenet the son?

Neil is Kat’s son That all comes down to time inversion, naturally. Max eventually grows up and meets John David Washington’s The Protagonist in the future. There, the now-older Protagonist – who founded the Tenet group – makes Max invert and head back in time to before the Protagonist does opera heist.

Is Neil really dead?

That is Neil’s corpse, which means, speaking strictly from a linear perspective, this is the last time we see Neil in Tenet: a martyr who’s taken a bullet for his buddy the Protag. However, since the dead Neil had his entropy reversed yet again, he dies while moving in reverse.

Is Neil the kid in Tenet?

(Image credit: Warner Bros.) By far the most popular Tenet theory doing the rounds is that Neil – the posh British spy played by Robert Pattinson – is actually Max, the child of Kat (Elizabeth Debicki) and Sator (Kenneth Branagh).

How does Neil travel back in time Tenet?

In the film, we see this from Neil’s perspective. Since Neil’s entropy has been reversed, he is traveling through time in reverse, however everything with normal entropy will appear reversed to him, including the thug’s arrival by chopper.

Who recruited Neil for Tenet?

Before heading off with Ives, Neil tells it was the Protagonist who recruited him for Tenet. This is also proved true when we see Neil save the protagonist back at the opera, due to the fact that we see Neil’s red string attached to his backpack in the prologue.

What’s the difference between Neil and the protagonist in tenet?

Neil is working backward toward the mission, while the Protagonist is working toward it. And all of this was set up by the Protagonist himself. This is actually ‘Tenet’s concept. Everything that happened was actually part of the same time loop. ‘Tenet’ releases Tuesday, December 15, 2020, on VoD.

What happens to Neil and Ives after Katkat?

Kat distracts him for long enough for The Protagonist, Neil, and Ives to save the day – with a little help from their future selves (more on that later). The men then go their separate ways, but not before Neil reveals that The Protagonist will later set the events of the entire movie in motion by travelling back in time.

What is the movie Tenet about?

The opening scene shows a beaten up Protagonist (John David Washington) attempting to kill himself by chewing on the cyanide pill, only to wake up being saved by a mysterious man giving nothing away but a word called ‘Tenet’ and that becomes his new mission.
