When did Paul have his revelation?
The “fourteen years” is usually taken to be from Paul’s conversion (rather than from his first visit to Jerusalem). This second meeting took place around the year 49 by traditional (and majority) dating. Therefore the revelation in Galatians 1:12 probably happened around 49 minus 14 – around 35 or 36 AD.
Where did Paul receive the gospel?
Paul located Mount Sinai in Arabia in Galatians 4:24–25. Paul asserted that he received the Gospel not from man, but directly by “the revelation of Jesus Christ”. He claimed almost total independence from the Jerusalem community (possibly in the Cenacle), but agreed with it on the nature and content of the gospel.
Where is Paul’s story in the Bible?
In chapter nine of Acts, Luke tells us the famous story of Paul’s conversion. Paul, still called Saul at this point, has taken an active part in the persecution of the Christian movement after the murder of Stephen, and although he has some official support, it does sound as though his vendetta is personally chosen.
How did Paul get baptized?
The Samaritans received the Holy Spirit when Peter and John laid their hands on them. The Apostle Paul was also filled with the Holy Spirit when Ananias of Damascus laid hands on him, and afterwards Paul was baptized with water.
Where did Paul receive the Gospel from?
Galatians 1:12, CSB: “For I did not receive it from a human source and I was not taught it, but it came by a revelation of Jesus Christ.” Galatians 1:11–24 begins with Paul’s statement that he did not receive the gospel which he taught to the Galatians from any man-made religion, nor training from other people. He received it from Christ Himself.
How did God reveal Jesus to Paul?
God revealed His Son Jesus to Paul, by His grace, even after Paul spent years as a Pharisee trying to destroy the Christian church. After Christ commissioned Paul to preach the good news to the Gentiles, he went off by himself for a few years and came to know the gospel through Christ directly.
Why did Paul go up to Jerusalem to receive revelation?
The revelation was most likely simply a directive from God to go up to Jerusalem to talk with the apostles. This is the most natural way to read the verse, and there would be nothing surprising about this conclusion on the basis of the rest of Paul’s life, since he was an apostle.
Where did Galatians get their message from?
