What should I study to become an Indian Foreign Service officer?

Educational Qualification To be eligible for becoming an IFS officer the candidate must possess a degree from an Indian University or an equivalent qualification. Those in the final year of a degree course can also appear in the Preliminary Examination taken every year by UPSC.

Can arts student do IFS?

No. Only science and engineering graduates. ARTS students are not allowed to write IFS exam. Only Science graduates,BVSC graduate,Engineering graduate are permitted to sit for this exam.

Which is best IFS or IAS?

Is IFS better than IAS? Ans. Though a majority of UPSC candidates choose IAS over IFS, the choices are partly due to the limited number of vacancies in the IFS. The interested candidate who wishes to make a career as Indian Foreign Service Officer, has to give an entrance examination called the UPSC exam .

The candidates selected into Indian Foreign Service (IFS) cadre are provided training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussourie. The training would be for a period ranging from 3 months to 4 months.
