What percent of high school students do extracurricular activities?

In the 13 states surveyed, extracurricular participation ranged from 78 percent to 87 percent. The percentage of all children participating was above the national average in Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Unlike the UC, the general CSU application does not even include a section on extracurricular activities. CSU admission for many campuses is based almost entirely on high school coursework and GPA (with extra weight given to certain honors and AP courses).

Although the CSU campuses will be looking at coursework and non-academic variables such as the hours spent in extra-curricular activities, the CSU system does not require any essays or personal statements and remains as objective as possible in making admissions decisions.
