What math do you need for general chemistry?

A solid understanding of algebra, trigonometry and diffrentiation/integration is necessary. More advanced topics which may be useful include partial derivatives, solving simple first and second order differential equations, solving partial differential equations, group theory, Fourier transforms.

Do chemistry majors take calculus?

After taking these two classes, i really started to wonder if it really is truly necessary to require a biology (or even chemistry) major to take them. The vast majority of biologists do not ever use calculus or even algebra or trigonomentry and it seems that the vast majority of chemists never will either.
