What is Xana from Code Lyoko?

XANA, the primary adversary of Team Lyoko, is a highly-sophisticated, intelligent, and autonomous multi-agent system, whose prime directive is to destroy the virtual world of Lyoko and take over the real world. It serves as the main antagonist of the show.

Why did Franz Hopper create Xana?

He soon used his computer knowledge to create a sentient and autonomous artificial intelligence/multi-agent system, called X.A.N.A. to be his assistant and act as a deterrent against Carthage should the project ever be unleashed.
