How do I get my child into Mensa?
We have members who range in age from 3 to 105 — kids can absolutely qualify and join. We invite gifted youth between 14 and 18 to take one of our supervised, standardized tests, and those under 14 are encouraged to submit evidence of past testing. Learn more about Gifted Youth Admission.
Is my child an advanced reader?
Signs of an Advanced Reader: Age 8 and up Many children hit their reading stride during the 2nd grade. At this point, they no longer have to carefully sound out each word. Reading becomes more automatic and they can shift their energy to enjoying the meaning of what they’re reading.
What is the Junior Great Books program?
Junior Great Books is a strong, inquiry-based language arts program that refines and extends students’ skills in reading, thinking, and communicating. The program is a model of student-centered learning in which students work with complex ideas and rigorous texts.
What sight words should a 4 year old know?
Most children will be able to learn a few sight words at the age of four (e.g. is, it, my, me, no, see, and we) and around 20 sight words by the end of their first year of school.
