Concept art helps to convey the look, feel and mood of a design idea. It is used to capture and convey the overall design vision of a project before anything goes into production, versus trying to express everything in specific terms at the very beginning of design development.

Conceptual Art is mainly focused on “ideas and purposes” rather than the “works of art” (paintings, sculptures, and other valuable objects). It is characterised by the use of different media and supports, along with a variety of temporary everyday materials and “ready-made objects”.

The building blocks of art are important. As much as some art teachers don’t want to talk about or teach the elements, I find them to be essential talking points to start off a school year. To me, not teaching the elements and expecting kids to make art is like not teaching the alphabet and expecting kids to read and write.
