What is the gate voltage of a MOSFET with N type substrate?

The gate voltage at which the transistor ON and starts the current flow through the channel is called threshold voltage. This threshold voltage value range for N-channel devices is in between 0.5V to 0.7V and for P-channel devices is in between -0.5V to -0.8V.

What effect does the gate voltage have on the channel layer resistance?

Increasing this positive gate voltage will cause the channel resistance to decrease further causing an increase in the drain current, ID through the channel.
