What is the difference between subspace and hyperspace?
Subspace is used to allow near-instantaneous communications, while hyperspace is reserved for transportation of physical objects and depicted as the slower of the two.
What exactly is hyperspace?
Backstory. In Star Wars, hyperspace is extra-dimensional space through which ships can travel so as to move across the galaxy faster than would be allowed by traveling through real space. In order to do this, a ship must be equipped with a hyperdrive.
What defines a subspace?
A subspace is a vector space that is entirely contained within another vector space. As a subspace is defined relative to its containing space, both are necessary to fully define one; for example, R2 is a subspace of R3, but also of R4, C2, etc.
What is a hyperspace linear algebra?
In linear algebra text(Hoffman), it says “In a vector space of dimension n, a subspace of dimension n−1 is called hyperspace”. The problem is the following theorem. If W is a k-dimensional subspace of an n-dimensional vector space V, then W is the intersection of (n−k) hyperspaces in V.
How do you become a subspace?
How far “down” a submissive goes into subspace is dependent upon a variety of factors: the skill of the Dominant in understanding the submissive’s needs; the Dominant’s ability to constructively manipulate and feed such needs and desires; how well the submissive trusts and relates to the Dominant; and so on.
Why is subspace useful?
An example, among many, of the usefulness of the concept of subspaces is that it is itself a vectorspace. Hence once a vectorspace has been built, one can construct many more examples by considering its vectorspace. Also, it gives us an easy way to check that a space is a vectorspace.
What is hyphyperspace and subspace?
Hyperspace will be slower, but will at least temporarily allow matter (spaceships) to travel through it. The name subspace seems to be taken from the subobjects of various mathematical spaces, such as vector spaces in linear algebra or metric and topological spaces in topology.
What does subspace mean in science fiction?
Subspace or Hyperspace. Hyperspace or hyperdrive is often used to describe Faster-Than-Light Travel or another dimension or other scifi concepts, and as such has been part of the SF lexicon at least since the pulp magazines of the 1930s. For example, in Star Wars, it is how starships achieve faster-than-light travel.
Is hyperspace scary?
Hyperspace may or may not be a scary place. See also Hyperspace Index . In Uchuu Senkan Yamato this is where space submarines go when they “submerge”. And they do have periscopes to peek back into normal space with. If Space Is an Ocean, subspace is what’s under the surface.
What happens to starships in hyperspace?
Starships in hyperspace are sometimes depicted isolated from the normal universe; they cannot communicate with nor perceive things in real space until they emerge. Often there can be no interaction between two ships even when both are in hyperspace.
