What is the difference between AR-15 M16 and M4?

The Ar15 can only fire in semiautomatic mode and is a civilian sorting rifle. The M4 and M16 have selective fire and can fire semiautomatic, full auto or 3 shot burst and are considered military rifles that are illegal to own without a special stamp and permit.

Additionally, simply adding an M16 BCG to your AR-15 will not give it full auto capabilities. M16 bolt carrier groups are the industry standard for AR-15 builds.
