What is the black wire in a USB cable?

USB Cable Colors and What They Mean The black wire is the ground wire (similar to most all electronic devices). The white wire is a “positive” data wire. The green wire is a “negative” data wire.

Do every USB cord have a black and red wire?

USB only normally has 4 wires and sometimes a shield: red and black for power, green and white for data.

What is the difference between Type A and Type C USB?

The USB-A has a much larger physical connector than the Type C, Type C is around the same size as a micro-USB connector. Unlike, Type A, you won’t need to try and insert it, flip it over and then flip it over once more just to find the right orientation when trying to make a connection.

A webcam should always be covered. Some laptop models finally come with a nice slide to cover the lens, hopefully this will become a new trend. Leds and other indicators are not reliable. Just put a piece of paper on your lens and life will be a bit safer again 🙂
