Sushumna nadi is the primary of the three main nadis (channels of energy) in the body. The name for this nadi comes from the Sanskrit prefix su, meaning “good” or “virtuous,” and mna, meaning “to think.” It is often translated as “joyful mind” or “most gracious.”

Pingala flows to the right, from chakra to nostril. Sushumna is the center channel and it travels straight up the spine through the center of all the chakras.

Open and exhale slowly through the right nostril. Keep the right nostril open, inhale, then close it, and open and exhale slowly through the left. This is one cycle. Repeat 3 to 5 times, then release the hand mudra and go back to normal breathing.
