What is SDRF and NDRF?
As per the recommendations from National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Government of India, New Delhi, the State was requested to set up State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams in the State on similar lines of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams set up by the Central Government.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is an Indian specialized force constituted “for the purpose of special response to a threatening disaster situation or disaster” under the Disaster Management Act, 2005. The Director Generals of NDRF are IPS officers on deputation from Indian police organizations.
How many Ndrf are there in India?
At present, there are 15 battalions of the NDRF which cater to the states and UTs during emergency situations such as urban floods, cloudburst and cyclone relief. The 16th battalion is being raised for the National Capital Region near Najafgarh in West Delhi, according to officials.

The Central Government contributes 75\% of SDRF allocation for general category States/UTs and 90\% for special category States/UTs (NE States, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir).
