What is flange guard?

Flange guards are protective devices that cover pipe flanges to prevent the leakage of materials. Fluoropolymer flange guards, because they are chemically inert, are often used where toxic or corrosive liquids or acids are being used.

What are line blanks?

A line blank can be viewed as an “isolation flange” inserted between two mating flanges to switch on or off the piping system after disassembling certain flange bolting. 5 flanges in the 150, 300, 600, 900, 1500, and 2500 pressure classes. Besides, line blanks can also be designed in accordance with ASME B31.

How many types of flange are there?

The key types of flanges are the welding neck, long welding neck, slip-on, socket weld, lap joint, threaded and blind flanges. In addition to these standard flanges, some special ones exist, called Weldoflange/Nipoflange and Elboflange, swivel flange, expander/reducer flange, and orifice flanges.

What is a pancake blind?

Also known as paddle blinds, these fit between two flanges to temporarily block the flow while you work downstream.

What is threaded flange?

Threaded flanges, also sometimes referred to as companion flanges / screw flanges / NPT flanges, contain a female NPT thread in the center for connection to male NPT threaded piping. The male pipe end is joined to the flange without a weld connection required but can be sealed with a weld if necessary.

Do flanges have schedules?

Socket Weld Flanges are available in pressure from 150# and up and pipe schedule 40 to schedule 160. Specifying the pipe schedule ensures that ID of the SW Flange matches the ID of pipe for smooth fluid flow.

What is an isolation blind?

Isolation blinds or Paddle Blinds are used to temporarily stop the flow of fluid or gas while sections of process piping are isolated for maintenance. Hydro blinds are typically machined finish and are used for testing where the system is placed under pressure and a more perfect seal is required.
