While an AS degree could be transferred to a university, an AAS degree cannot. This means that a person with an AS degree can get a Bachelor’s degree in two years. On the other hand, a person with an AAS degree will take four years to obtain a Bachelor’s degree. The Associates in Science degree has an academic/research approach.

Do associates degrees matter?

The associate’s degree won’t do much at all, but what matters more is what you make of it . Getting any sort of job with that degree is a chance to grow, even if it’s not related to your concentration. BA and below doesn’t really count for anything beyond the first job. It’s just the minimum requirement these days.
