But this cannot be a reason to stop you, if you really want to reject all candidates. 10 years back if you want to choose 49O you can’t cast your vote secretly. People in the booth will know that the person is choosing 49O.

This enables the voter to officially register a vote of rejection for all candidates who are contesting an election. If a voter chooses to press NOTA on the EVM, it indicates that the voter has not chosen to vote for any party.

If voters are dissatisfied with the background or performance of contesting candidate, they will opt for NOTA to reject such candidate and elect a new one. The Court may declare that if ‘none of the above’ (NOTA) gets maximum votes, then election to that constituency shall be held within six months.

On 27 September 2013, the Supreme court of India ruled that the right to register a “none of the above” vote in elections should apply. NOTA means “None of the Above” option which enables the voter to officially register a vote of rejection for all candidates who are contesting.

NOTA means “none of the above”. This is an option given to a Voter in the event he/she desires to register their vote for nobody who is contesting election. Not actually appearing to vote at all means that you run the risk that someone else might just vote in your name. Other than that, nothing.
