What happens if a human kills a queen bee?

So, please, if you really have to kill your queen-bee, do it only during the mating season or the colony will raise a virgin queen but that will get you nowhere. The eggs that a virgin queen can lay are not fertilised, so they will evolve into drones only, not workers.

Why would a bee colony kill their queen?

If the queen is producing hungry, lazy, sterile males, then killing her allows one of her daughters to become a new queen, producing genuinely reproductive male heirs. The workers can then help the new queen perpetuate their collective genetic legacy.

Why do bees not accept a Queen?

The first and by far the most common reason why honey bees reject a new queen is the fact that she is unfamiliar to them. This is because every queen leaves around her a specific pheromone that allows the worker bees to recognize her. In simple terms, a new queen just doesn’t smell right to the worker bees.
