How many colors does a gradient have?
A gradient is created by using two or more different colors to paint one element while gradually fading between them. Gradients let designers create something that feels like a new color. A tone which didn’t exist before, something that looks unique, modern and refreshing.
Why do we use gradients?
The gradient of any line or curve tells us the rate of change of one variable with respect to another. This is a vital concept in all mathematical sciences. Any system that changes will be described using rates of change that can be visualised as gradients of mathematical functions.
Are gradients bad for logos?
Gradients can often distort the text of a business name or make it more difficult to read, depending on how intense the effect is. It’s best to shy away from adding gradients to a wordmark logo, or logo that uses only text (no symbols or icons) – unless the gradient is VERY subtle.

To calculate the gradient of a straight line we choose two points on the line itself. The difference in height (y co-ordinates) ÷ The difference in width (x co-ordinates). If the answer is a negative value then the line is downhill in direction.

How do you color gradient in XD?
To apply a gradient to an element, simply select the element in the canvas, click on the Fill color in the properties panel to open up the color panel and then click on Solid Color near the top of that panel to change this to Linear Gradient or Radial Gradient.
