What does a Variax guitar do?
Variax is the name of a line of guitars developed and marketed by Line 6. They differ from typical electric and acoustic guitars in that internal electronics process the sound from individual strings to model (replicate) the sound of specific guitars and other instruments.
What are modeling guitars?
Modelling guitars and basses are instruments whose sound is produced by integrated electronics, not the acoustic or electrical properties of the instrument itself. Modelling guitars output the sound of a guitar from a regular jack socket, not signals that need to be converted by a guitar processor.
What is Variax input?
If you select “Variax”, you’ll get either models or mags depending on what mode the guitar is in. i.e. you can switch on the fly. You also have an input called “Variax Magnetics” which are the magnetics only. You can’t switch to models but you could use it to blend mags in on another path or track the mags separately.
What is modeling electric guitar?
Modeling electric guitars are special instruments designed for the rare breed of player who wants access to an incredibly wide palette of tones, ranging from traditional to futuristic, and the ability to switch between them on a dime.
How do I update my Variax guitar?
Once the guitar and interface are connected to the computer, you will need to run Line 6 Monkey.
- Once you run Line 6 Monkey, Monkey may ask you to register.
- If you want to reinstall the factory presets (or update the firmware), select “Flash Memory” the select “Reinstall Latest”
Is a modeling amp worth it?
If you want a really wide range of tones available in one amp, then a modelling amp could be a great choice. Modelling amps can also be really good for beginners as it’s a practical way to learn about the different kinds of amps that are out there and what sort of tones a particular amp will give you.
