What does a brown spot on your eye mean?

The brown lesion you see on the sclera (the white part of the eye) is called Primary Acquired Melanosis of the conjunctiva (PAM). This is a potentially dangerous melanocytic lesion that can lead to melanoma of the eye. Most patients have no symptoms, but may notice the cosmetic changes on the surface of the eye.

Is conjunctival nevus dangerous?

People can be born with conjunctival nevi (congenital), or develop it in childhood or later in life. Nevi can range in colour from yellow to brown, and can lighten or darken (during puberty or pregnancy) over time. This type of nevi are usually benign (non-cancerous) and harmless and do not cause changes in vision.

Can a freckle in the eye be removed?
