What do pilots prefer Boeing or Airbus?

Absolutely. Airbus and Boeing have different control systems, and most pilots strongly prefer one over the other. (The Explainer isn’t aware of a poll, and so has no way of knowing which manufacturer pilots favor overall.) Modern Airbus planes employ a “fly-by-wire” system.

Is Airbus or Boeing more comfortable?

But if you’re faced with the choice between an Airbus A320 family jet and a Boeing 737, you might want to go with the former. Thanks to the wider cabin, reduced cabin-wall curvature and better-placed windows, the Airbus offers a more comfortable ride than the 737, all else being equal.

Is Boeing or Airbus better?

Airbus has had fly-by-wire longer, but Boeing has been around longer. The 777 has more powerful engines, but the A380 has twice as many. The A320 variants generally have a better range than their 737 counterparts, but the 737-800 beats the A320-200 on MTOW.

How did Airbus become so popular in India?

The first significant order for Airbus from India came from now low-cost giant IndiGo. The then-unknown carrier ordered 100 Airbus A320s, a multi-billion deal and the biggest of any Indian airline at the time. This greatly increased Airbus’ order book in the country and began catching up to Boeing.

Should you choose an Airbus or Boeing plane?

For some fliers, the choice may come down to their preferred airline or airport. But I’d argue that it’s important to look at the plane manufacturer as well. All of the Big Three U.S. airlines operate both the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 families of jets. On many routes, you’ll even have the choice between an Airbus or Boeing, on the same airline.

Should you choose the Boeing 737 or the Airbus A320?

Before I get into the analysis, I’ll concede that there are definitely reasons to choose the 737 over the A320 family. For instance, if you’re flying an Airbus A320 or A321 with American Airlines, there’s a chance that your flight is operated by the no-frills legacy-US Airways version.

Why are Boeing’s 737s so popular?

Boeing began the century with a strong advantage in the market. Jet Airways, then the largest airline, used the 737 for its domestic and short-haul international routes, and had substantial orders for future types. Airbus was relatively behind, with Indian Airlines (later merged with Air India) and Kingfisher being its biggest customers.
