On Aug. 4, 2020, SpaceX’s SN5 Starship prototype took a short, uncrewed hop that could end up leading to humanity’s next giant leap. SN5 flew about 500 feet (150 meters) above SpaceX’s South Texas facilities, near the village of Boca Chica.

The 50 m Starship upper stage is also built from stainless steel with a principal diameter of 9 m. This stage is powered by 3 standard Raptor engines and 3 fixed vaccum-optimzed raptor engines. The Starship has a dry mass of 85 tons and has a propellant capacity of 1200 tons.

It is 120 m (390 ft) high and 9 m (30 ft) in diameter, taller than the Saturn V by 9 m (30 ft). The vehicle consists of two stages, a Super Heavy booster and a Starship spacecraft.
